Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Val mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Permitdashboard LLC, doing business as Val ("Val," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, downloading the app, or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Val is a voice-first scheduling platform designed for skilled tradespeople, crew leads, and general contractors. The Service includes:

• Voice and text-based schedule management
• Jobsite management and geolocation features
• Availability sharing between subcontractors and general contractors
• Crew dispatch and assignment tools
• Web dashboard for general contractors
• Weather alerts and predictive scheduling

3. Account Registration

To use Val, you must create an account using your phone number. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and current information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

We authenticate via phone-based one-time passcodes (OTP). You are responsible for maintaining access to your registered phone number.

4. Subscription Tiers and Payment

4.1 Free Tier

Val offers a free tier with limited voice interactions (50/month), jobsites (5), and GC shares (2). The free tier is a real product, not a trial — text scheduling is unlimited.

4.2 Paid Tiers

Paid subscriptions (Pro, Crew, GC, GC Plus) are billed monthly or annually. Prices are listed on our pricing page. Crew and GC Plus tiers include per-member fees for added team members.

4.3 Billing

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date
• You may cancel at any time; access continues through the end of the current billing period
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Transmit malicious code, spam, or harmful content
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
• Share your account credentials with others (use crew member seats or delegate access instead)

6. Voice and Text Processing

When you use voice or text scheduling features:

• Voice audio is transmitted to our processing servers for speech-to-text conversion
• Transcribed text is processed by AI models to parse scheduling intent
• Audio is processed in real-time and not stored after processing is complete
• Your identity and schedule details are never shared with other users — GCs only see availability status

7. Your Data

7.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all schedule data, jobsite information, and other content you provide to Val. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your data.

7.2 License

By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

7.3 Portability

You may export your schedule data at any time. Upon account deletion, we will delete your data from our servers within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

8. Availability Sharing

When you share availability with general contractors or other users:

• Only availability windows are shared — never job names, client details, or exact locations
• You control which GCs can see your availability
• You can revoke access at any time
• Shared availability links can be deactivated by you at any time

9. Crew Features

If you use crew management features:

• You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from crew members before adding them
• Crew members will receive notifications about job assignments
• Crew leads can view crew member schedules within the context of their crew
• Crew members can leave a crew at any time

10. Geolocation

Val offers optional geolocation features for passive arrival confirmation and travel time learning. These features:

• Require explicit opt-in permission on your device
• Only process locations that match registered jobsites
• Do not track, log, or report unknown or personal locations
• Can be disabled at any time in Settings

11. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Val is designed to work offline for schedule viewing, with syncing when connectivity is restored. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that:

• The Service will meet all your requirements
• Voice or text parsing will be 100% accurate
• Weather alerts will be comprehensive or timely
• Predictive scheduling suggestions will be correct

You are responsible for verifying your schedule and making business decisions based on your own judgment.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PERMITDASHBOARD LLC (D/B/A VAL) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, OR LOSS OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Permitdashboard LLC (d/b/a Val) and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

15. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

16. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases, and we will handle your data per our Privacy Policy.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Travis County, Texas.
